How does a teacher sign up to Pickatale for Schools?

Head to to create your account. Here they’ll be asked to input their details and they can get started straight away.

How does the teacher dashboard work?

Each teacher sets up either a group or class through their dashboard. This allows them to connect with student accounts via a class code which is unique to them. Therefore, every time a teacher sets tasks for the pupils, it can be tracked in the dashboard. A teacher will see who has completed their tasks, which words pupils struggled with and also get various levels of statistics on their class performance.

What devices can the teacher dashboard be used on?

The dashboard can be used on the following devices:

  • laptops
  • iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro

The following  browsers are compatible:

  • Edge
  • Opera
  • Mozilla

Where can I find the Pickatale for Schools app for students?

The student app can be downloaded from Google Play and the App Store – for free!

How does a student create a profile in the app?

Once downloaded, the pupils will be asked to create an account and enter the class code provided to them by their teacher.

Once registration is complete, they will be able to access the digital library to view all the books available, see all set tasks and homework, as well as select any book to read!

What devices can the app be accessed on?

Students can access the app on:

  • Android Phones
  • Android Tablets
  • Chromebooks (Chome OS)
  • iPhone (iOS)
  • iPads (iOS)

Android devices with version 6.0 and above and iOS devices from version 10.

All chromebooks from 2016 until present day are supported.

How many books are on the app?

The Pickatale for Schools app has hundreds of books available – with most supporting to the English curriculum. We offer a range of books which covers subjects such as:

  • Reading
  • Geography
  • History
  • People & Societies
  • Science & Nature
  • Sports & Entertainment
  • Religion & Ethics

We are constantly adding new books so make sure you check your library for the latest new additions.


How can the books be read?

To read a book, all you need to do is to select a book in the library, click on the book cover, press play and you’ll then be provided with options available for how to read the book. This varies from book to book, but includes you reading independently, with audio support or a  combination of the two.

What languages are the books available in?

At the moment we only offer books in English.

How much does Pickatale for Schools cost?

Pickatale for Schools is free! Teachers and students can access and use our digital library and teacher dashboard without incurring any costs.

There’s a technical issue or fault with the app

If the sound isn’t working, check whether the audio setting is set to mute or check whether the volume is too low.

I need to change my password

For Students 

Unfortunately, students can’t change passwords by themselves. The teacher can either go into the student profile to retrieve it, or reset it on their behalf.

For Teachers

Please go to to sign in. Then when prompted, please follow the instructions to reset your password.
