The Old House

By Hans Christian Andersen / retold by: Keith Miller

An old man lives in a very old house. No one likes the man or the house, except one little boy. He gives a toy soldier to the old man to keep him company. The man and boy become friends, but the soldier is lonely and bored. In desperation he throws himself off the table and can't be found. Many years later after the man and house are both gone, the boy, now grown, finds the soldier once more. The story is based on an 1847 tale from Hans Christian Andersen.
