We have selected the winners for our short story competition!

The winners will get an iPad and get their story published in Pickatale!

To celebrate World Book Day, we had our biggest competition EVER! We gave kids across the UK the chance to have their very own short story published on the Pickatale app plus win an iPad and a year’s subscription to the Pickatale for Families app! You can read more about the competition here.

We got in some great and creative contributions and the judges really loved reading your stories! We are very pleased to announce that the jury has selected the following winners:

From the 8-12 years old category:

Our judges were:

Roger Beard

Roger Beard has been a primary school teacher and a teacher training tutor. He is now an Emeritus Professor of Primary Education at the London Institute of Education. Roger has been studying children’s reading for many years and has written numerous books and articles on it. He has travelled all over the world to talk to people about children’s reading – cool or what!

James Tavendale

James is Pickatale’s Content Director – this means he reads stories all day long and is in charge of the amazing books you can find on the Pickatale app. His hobbies are football, football and football. He once beat the Norwegian arm-wrestling champion and has a very cute Yorkiepoo named Bruno.

Sarah Natasha Melbye

Sarah works with developing new stories for the Pickatale app together with many different authors. She loves a good story and has worked with storytelling her whole life, in TV, radio and with books. She used to be the host of ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ in Norway, and once handed out the top price of 1 million Norwegian kroner! Her hobbies are reading, football, hockey and music. Her best friend is called Vegas, he is an 11 year old brown Labrador.

The first prize winner will recieve an Ipad and their stories published in Pickatale Home and in the Pickatale for Schools app. The winners have been contacted.
